Alkmaar

Alkmaar is a city and a province in Noord-Holland in the Netherlands. The city is situated at the border of West-Friesland and Kennemerland. A resident of Alkmaar is called a Alkmaarder.

Alkmaar is known of the cheese market that takes place from the first Friday in April till the first Friday in September, every Friday morning from 10:00 o'clock till 12:00 o'clock. It is one of four cheese markets that is still held in the Netherlands. De demonstrations takes place in fron of the Waag, this also is the location of the Dutch Cheese museum and the tourist office.

We have a special wine-restaurant whith wines from our own vineyard from Bourgondy France. Directly situated on the famous cheese market and the shopping centrum of Alkmaar.
