La Gare Centrale

La Gare Centrale d'Amsterdam (en néerlandais : Centraal Station ; nom utilisé par les chemins de fer : Amsterdam Centraal) est la gare principale d'Amsterdam, capitale des Pays-Bas. Elle a été construite entre 1881 et 1889 par l'architecte Pierre J.H. Cuypers et le constructeur mécanicien Adolf Leonard van Gendt. Cuypers est également le créateur du Rijksmuseum d'Amsterdam ouvert en 1885, qui ressemble fortement à la Gare Centrale.
La construction de la gare et l'aménagement des voies ont nécessité la fermeture du front du port, ce qui a toutefois permis d'éviter la traversée de l'ancienne ville par des voies de chemin de fer.
La gare compte six quais, accessibles par les couloirs transversaux, situés sous onze voies pour passagers. Il y a au total 15 voies. Elle est l'extrémité nord de la ligne à grande vitesse HSL-Zuid qui relie Anvers à Amsterdam desservie par des trains Thalys.
La Gare Centrale est construite sur trois îles comblées de l'IJ. Le sable utilisé pour le comblement provient des dunes situées près de Velsen qui avaient été creusées pour la construction du Canal de la Mer du Nord. Comme beaucoup d'autres bâtiments à Amsterdam, le bâtiment est construit sur des pilotis de bois.

the location of the hotel was excellent and made it easy to get about everywhere and everthing was walkable . also the friendlyness of all the staff. we very much enjoyed our stay (this was our second time )

het hotel is voor wat je betaald super goed. het was schoon en de locatie is op zich wel goed.

we vonden het jammer dat onze 4 kamers niet naast elkaar waren. en het lawaai om het hotel om sochtends 8 uur, van het verbouwen er achter was echt waardeloos, maar daar kon het hotel ook niks aan doen.

5 min to go to the central station and in city, nice bar,

rooms on the sunny (south) side of the boat get really hot, you can only leave the door open for fresh air coming in by the window! in the night its really loud with open windows, because there is in front of the hotel the way. rooms and bath room very small!
