• excellent position, sparkling clean with all necessary facilities, pleasant and helpful staff. we couldnt have asked for more! a real bonus was the little fridge in our room!!


• none that we felt affected us. however, not for those who wish for peace and quiet (we loved the busy and noisy fun-filled surroundings) and not for those who would struggle with narrow and steep stairs - but these add to the quaintness and authenticity of a converted canal house.

• i stay in the veteran hotel since 1977 and always in room number 1, the best because it is possibleto see the herengracht and the reguleersgracht. no it is under a new direction. a chinese family very friendly and helpful.


• i always think that the veterans deserves a decoration to honor the historical building, the privileged location and, inally, to honor amsterdam.nothing expensive or very fancy, just something to add some personality.now under this new direction the hotel is cleaner than before. the internet in the lobby is another positive point. also the breakfast is very good.

• this hotel is in a great location, banked by the canal on one side and rembrandtplein on the other its perfect for access to the red light, dam sq, ledisplein, coffe shops, etc. the accomodation is basic, if you pay for a double room you have a fantastic view over the herengracht canal which has the busiest canal boat junction. there is also a supermarket within easy 5 min walk so will make your hoilday cheaper. (watch out for beer prices in dam sq nearly twice the norm)

• everything was wrong with this hotel. it was horrible, from the bathroom to the man shouting abuse from the room below. left after one day, no refund given.

• the location is excellent. it is with in walking distance to many sights and right around the corner from the rembrantplein (good place for going out, lots of clubs and bars). it was relatively inexpensive.


• very steep stairs (practically like a ladder), although this is rather typical of many older buildings in the city. the cleanliness was certainly not up to par, although bearable. stayed in an ensuite room, however most of the rooms use a shared bathroom.

• this place should not be called "hotel" : it is old, dirty and very small. moreover, the restrooms were outside the sleeping room (1 restroom for 7 rooms !). the hotel was the only bad aspect of our stay in amsterdam. this hotel should not be referred in any web site.
