Rembrandtplein

The square developed into a centre for nightlife with the opening of various hotels and cafés. The popularity of Rembrandtplein has arised along with the café terraces, that are packed during summer with people enjoying a pleasant drink and watching the world go by. In the middle is a green rectangle of grass especially popular with youth during sunny days. Around the square there are some quality night clubs and gay venues; as well as respectable diamond factories and cosy souvenir shops.

this is a hotel administrated by a chinesse family that they live and sleep in the same place than te customers take the breakfast. the confortable conditions are not the best.

de ligging is zeer goed en het is goedkoop. het onthaal was ook goed. de mensen waren vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

het hotel is wat onderkomen aan het geraken (afbladderende verf,...). de douche-wc combinatie vonden we niet echt geslaagd. het is een heel steile trap met beperkte ruimte om tot aan je kamer te geraken.

excellent position, sparkling clean with all necessary facilities, pleasant and helpful staff. we couldnt have asked for more! a real bonus was the little fridge in our room!!

none that we felt affected us. however, not for those who wish for peace and quiet (we loved the busy and noisy fun-filled surroundings) and not for those who would struggle with narrow and steep stairs - but these add to the quaintness and authenticity of a converted canal house.

i stay in the veteran hotel since 1977 and always in room number 1, the best because it is possibleto see the herengracht and the reguleersgracht. no it is under a new direction. a chinese family very friendly and helpful.

i always think that the veterans deserves a decoration to honor the historical building, the privileged location and, inally, to honor amsterdam.nothing expensive or very fancy, just something to add some personality.now under this new direction the hotel is cleaner than before. the internet in the lobby is another positive point. also the breakfast is very good.

this hotel is in a great location, banked by the canal on one side and rembrandtplein on the other its perfect for access to the red light, dam sq, ledisplein, coffe shops, etc. the accomodation is basic, if you pay for a double room you have a fantastic view over the herengracht canal which has the busiest canal boat junction. there is also a supermarket within easy 5 min walk so will make your hoilday cheaper. (watch out for beer prices in dam sq nearly twice the norm)

not much, you get what you pay for - do watch out for the stairs - a quirky introduction to amsterdam!

all the fotos did not macth.... not for old people, or people difficult for walking - shared bathroom for 10 rooms... normally payment at the check-out - but here at check-in... if use creditcard charges 5% more...
