Artis Zoo

Artis, the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838, shows its historical character even before you walk through the gates: two golden eagles are perched proudly atop the main entrance. the staff were very friendly and the hotel was very cheap and fulfilled our needs, i.e. the room had its own toilet and shower. also the hotel is close to the zoo.

there was a bit of walking to get to the main parts of the amsterdam.

our room was noisy because of the noise inside the hotel, not from the streets. grubby pillows, old installations.

- "hippie hotel gone commerical". - sanitair: glibberige douche, wastafel half verstopt, rioollucht gemaskeerd door chloor, benauwd. - prijs/kwaliteit verhouding slecht: in de guldentijd kreeg je voor hetzelfde geld een uitstekend 4-sterren hotel.

no lift - 7 flights of stairs to climb to get to room! shower was broke in shared bathroom on our floor...had to go to shared bathroom on second floor! needs decoration !!!

naast kamer 31 stond in het toilet/douchegedeelte een verwarmingsketel heel veel lawaai te maken en de douche was defect

comfort was beneden alle peil. beddengoed niet echt netjes, en het sanitair was de naam sanitair binnen hotelnormen onwaardig. bizar dat zon onderkomen 2 sterren krijgt van de hoteliersbond.

the room was very small with extremely basic facilities. too expensive for what it was, but that seems to be the amsterdam market.

breakfast hours - 8:00 am to 9:30 am - could be extended to maybe 7:30 am to 10:00 am?
