• the receptionist was very pleasant to us when we arrived and actually made us feel very welcome. she told us that we could smoke in the room which was useful considering we were in the cannabis capital. she even went out of her own way to get us some literature about good cafes to visit. when going into the room i was surprised to find a modern bathroom, somewhat of a contrast to the rest of the room and even though the hotel could do with a refurb the room was very clean when we arrived and had a great window that looked right down in to one of the streets with lots of cafes in it. the location is truely sublime i dont think you could be closer to everything and i mean everything, central station, dam square, all the trams to wherever you could want to go.


• the stairs going up to the rooms were very steep but being young this was not an issue the rooms could do with a refurb carpets look a bit old but is to be expected when paying a comparingly low price for the hotel in the first place. if you are looking to go to bed early get a different hotel because due to the location noise outside can be an issue at night time.

• the room prices are very low but the bath room was really kind of disgusting. the beds werent really good, our backs hurt a bit now, but the bath room was really bad especially the shower and the smell of cleaning utensils wasnt gone even after three nights! the location in the middle of the tourism party centre has some disadvantages. at night you hear all the drunken "oh lets go smoke some weed in amsterdam tourists" - its not the hotels fault but well the location aint that good because of that - this and the shower is the reason why we wont be coming back to hotel ben again, id rather pay double and have my comfort next time.

• you are right in the rld so the location is great for access to the city, though expect some noise through the night and in the morning from the nearby church! take some earplugs and you should be ok.
