Artis Zoo

Artis offers many possibilities for an enjoyable and exciting day out. You can take a look at animals from all parts of the world. Or you can visit the Geological Museum, the Zoological Museum, the Plant Houses, the Aquarium or the Planetarium. These parts together form the inspiring 'Museum van het Leven' (Museum of Life); Artis.

MUSEUM OF LIFE
Artis is first and foremost a zoo with magnificent animals. For example, you will find desert antilopes, llamas and giraffes. You can also see the zookeepers feeding the animals at fixed times. The crocodiles are fed every Sunday at 2:30 p.m. If you walk further through the zoo you can visit the revamped Aquarium. Here you see a real coral reef and a tidal forest as well as a real Amsterdam Canal!

great location - in the city centre but on a quiet street and with great transport links. the rooms were clean and the staff friendly. breakfast was good too. you can come and go at any time and friends are allowed in the hotel!

the stairs (although i understand this is common in amsterdam) and no check in after 3pm - they were a bit reluctant to let me book because i was due to arrive at 4.30pm! other than that everything was fine.

the location: close to the center, in a very nice and quiet area. the staff: very nice people and quite concerned about our wellbeing.

i believe that old houses in amsterdam have narrow and steep steps and this was not a exception. no air conditioning, probably quite hot in summer. in our case, during night it was quite cool and we could open the windows because the neighbourhood is quiet at night.

very good helpful staff who were pleasant and courteous. goof hotel for keep fit as all stairs are steep and narrow!

only one toilet and shower were not entirely inconvenient and they were clean (until certain customers used them) and were cleaned each day.

the narrow stairs-something which applies for all the traditional buildings in amsterdam a bit expensive for a room with shared toilet

good location. good website information on how to get there by public transport. quiet place during most of my stay.

rooms are very acustic. on one night i was awakened at leat 2 times from my sleep by other guests talking on the street or in another room. i suggest the hotel should ask the guests not to talk to loudly in the night. i could not switch the radio nor the tv on (no pilot), however i didnt ask the staff about that as it was not important thing for me.
