Canals
Next, the canals are used for recreation (boating) and for parades. One of the most popular canal parades is Amsterdam's Gay Pride parade that attracts more than 100,000 spectators straining to see nearly naked men cavorting on gaily decorated floats. A must do if you're in town! Last, the Dutch canals act as sewers for many houseboats, getting flushed out at regular intervals. But for most people they are part of the Dutch landscape and a beautiful example of human ingenuity and a great conductor of feng shui (wind & water). Amsterdam's canals have another bonus, hundreds of bridges! Spanning the centuries as well as the canals, bridges provide a glimpse into Amsterdam's past, and make wonderful observation points for photographing the city or just watching the boats go by. At night many are lit up and make a beautiful circular reflection in the water below.

- we hadden gevraagd om een kamer met 2 eenpersoonsbedden. nu waren deze er ook maar het was opgemaakt als een tweepersoonsbed. kamer was ook een stuk kleiner dan de foto laat denken.

- ligging ruime kamers kleinschalig hotel
- geen eigen parkeergelegenheid wat moeilijk is voor uit- en inladen koffers. dit moet op de stoep gebeuren (wat van de politie niet mag)

- construction site inside the hotel, sometimes we had to move things(cables) away to pass to the hallway and also unaware staff(reception) about the hotel services about parking !

- the location of the hotel was very good, the breakfast was plentiful, all but one staff were nice.
- there was no prior notice about the reconstruction works. also the airconditioning did not work on the 4th floor where we had an attic room with very small windows. they offered no compensation or no relocation to another room.

- the hotel is situated in the city centre, which makes that all major tourist attractions are reachable by foot.
