Walking, Cycling
Wheather you like to just walk or bike for hours on our famous biking paths, the place to start is the outstretched wooded area across the road. Als National Park "De Hamert" lies in close proximity. Aprox. 500 meters away the leads start of the "German Reichswald", a magistral forrest area that simply invites a further cycling tour or a drive by car.
Conditio(ning) - Spa
The healthy influence of a thermalbath with hot water brought up from 900 meters underground can be experienced in the Thermalbad Arcen. Also nearby, for sportive relaxation, is a 9-holes golfcourse. For the fanatics among us are 2 18-holes courses within reach. Lomm, the neighbouring village, offers a wealth of relaxation for body and mind in their Saunapark "van Dijk".
Flowers and Plants
Within 500 meters from the "Arcener Inn" lies the internationally famous Castle Gardens. "Kasteeltuinen" keeps you amazed with the wealth of flora and fauna and the variation in every season. Around the corner from the castle grounds is an authentic watermill "De Ijsvogel" where, after thorough renovations, cereals/grains are being ground again....... obtaining a variaty of liqueurs. On the other side of Arcen lies the Steambrewery, birthplace of the well known and by experts much appreciated "Hertog Jan" Beers.
Old Cities
Enjoy yourself with shopping or admiring the architecture in places like Straelen, Geldern, Kevelaer, Xanten and Kleve.Venlo, with a lively market on Saterday, lies a quarter of an hour away by car. "City of Lights" Eindhoven, mondaine Düsseldorf and Silkcity Krefeld are well within reach via the highways.
