Information about Kaatjes Residence

The building that now houses Kaatjes Résidence was originally built around 1860 as a private house. From 1926 it was used by a cattle feed company until, after many years standing empty, it was put into use as a hotel in 1985. Recently the building was thoroughly rebuilt and modernized.

As is the case with many towns around the former Zuyder Zee, the harbor of Blokzijl also silted up.
As a result, the town lost its connection with the western provinces of Holland and, with it, its trading significance. The fast decline had one positive consequence; many historical buildings were preserved. Walking through Blokzijl you see many remains of the town’s glorious past.
Kaatjes Résidence serves you each morning a beautiful breakfast, for lunch or dinner Blokzijl has a couple of very nice restaurants, such as: Kaatje bij de Sluis, Hof van Sonoy, Prins Mauritshuis, De Lindenhof.
Kaatjes Résidence has as well as hotel rooms a couple of apartments called the LOCK-KEEPER'S HOUSE.
This is a unique holiday house where the lock-keepers used to live and is conveniently located in the centre of Blokzijl. The house has been completely renovated and offers wonderful views over the harbour and lock. The house accommodates 4 people; of which the studio on the first floor can accommodate 2 people. Minimum stay 3 nights. Prices on request. For guarantee we ask € 100,- upon arrival.
