The historic nature of the building in which "de Abdij" is housed is apparent in all the rooms; from the 14th century beams under the old monastery roof to the handsomely wrought high ceilings on the ground floor, all rooms breathe the air of a rich history.

In all the rooms the available space has been used in such a way that the monumental feel is very much intact, whilst creating maximum comfort. Most rooms are over fifty square meters, all are of course equipped with television, telephone and their own bathroom with shower or bath. For our regular guests it remains fascinating to see that no two rooms are the same in size or décor; for hotel staff it is allways a pleasure to be able to take different preferences into consideration.

Our Cafe:
In 2003 the Market in Dokkum saw the birth of "Stadscafé de Refter", a restaurant that combines the longstanding Frisian tradition of warm hospitality with an impressive culinary excperience. The light, open spaces and flexible attitude of all the staff make "de Refter" an occasion where all feel welcome; a true city-restaurant. Whether it be a quick drink at the bar, a lazy spring afternoon in our garden or an extensive dinner or simple meal in our restaurant, "de Refter" will suit all needs.
