Drenthe
Drenthe, unlike many other parts of the Netherlands, has been a sparsely populated rural area since medieval times. Except for some industry in Assen and Emmen, the lands in Drenthe are mainly used for farming.
Drenthe has been populated by people since prehistory . Artifacts from the Wolstonian Stage (150.000 years ago) are among the oldest found in the Netherlands. In fact it was one of the most densely populated areas of the Netherlands until the Bronze Age. Most tangible evidence of this are the dolmens (hunebedden) built around 3500 BC, 52 of the 54 dolmens in the Netherlands can be found in Drenthe, concentrated in the northeast of the province.

Landhotel Diever is located next to the forest. Peace and plenty of space. We try to make a difference by a personal approach and by being a small hotel. The location itself is a surprise! The original Ruterhuus (poorhouse) is transformed into a rustic and stylish 3-star hotel in various styles.
We have 18 double rooms that are located next to the cozy farm restaurant.
In summer it is lovely to sit on the wide terrace, even in the conservatory you will have a beautiful panoramic view.

The hotel rooms are located next to the farm and around a walled courtyard. The construction is quite special, the hotel wing was built from wood construction with ecological roofs which grows chives and other plants. Not only beautiful to see, but the roofs have an insulating effect too.
The peace and quiet are unique. Slowing down is not a problem!
The restaurant in the renovated historic farmhouse (from 1861) can seat 60 people. In the adjoining conservatory use by 40 persons. Here you have a wonderful panoramic view. The conservatory is ideal for serving buffets for groups, business and family.
Weather permitting, the terrace is opened.

Bookings not cancelled 2 days before arrival will be billed at a cost equivalent to the price of the first night. In case of no-show, the total price of the booking will be charged.
