3000 years ago people started on the veluwe with the first agriculture activities. They used the forrest on the Veluwe for their means of existence. They built small settlements and small villages. By the intensity of their activities, treating the ground and cutting down the wood, the sources on the Veluwe were rapidly running out.
Just in the 19th century the people realised the value of the veluwe as a nature area. As a result, the veluwe is now the largest nature area of the Netherlands, where you can enjoy several types of landscapes. Where you can cycle and walk. Where you find peace and space. The veluwe is alive!
