As a shopping centre Groningen also puts up a good show. Just recently the design and interior shop Vos Maupertuus was acclaimed the best choice for a day of "furniture shopping". But shopping in Groningen is a pleasant experience in more than one respect. All the shops are near one another: in the famous Herenstraat the large chains of shops, in the sidestreets the "small" shops. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays there is a "Market" on the Vismarkt.
