Joops Hotel is situated in the pedestrian zone of the historic centre of Haarlem. The city of Haarlem is known for its historical façades and courtyards. The Frans Hals Museum, the Corry ten Boom Musuem and the Teylers Museum (the oldest museum in the country) are all at a stone’s throw from the hotel.

If shopping is your thing, Haarlem is also a great destination. Haarlem has often been voted as the best shopping city in the Netherlands and you will be able to spend as much or as little as you like in all the different shops and antique shops. The shops are a good combination with a nice lunch or drink on one of the terraces.

Haarlem is also the perfect starting location for many different excursions: Amsterdam (where you can shop even on Sundays), the beaches of Bloemendaal, Zandvoort (beaches, circuit, casino), the flowers of the Keukenhof in Lisse (opened from March until May) and National Park De Kennemerduinen where you can hike and bike (bike rental in the close vicinity of the hotel).

It is also nice to visit the annually organised events like the flower parade, Dance Valley, Haarlem Culinair and Haarlem Jazz.

grote ruime kamer. ideaal voor als je met een groepje bent. je kunt bijna nergens in een hotel verblijven met zn vieren op 1 kamer.

gehorig. als je de douche gebruikt is de hele badkamervloer nat.

shower took very, very long time to get warm - far too much water wasted could do with more places / hooks / rails, etc to hang towels, sponge bag, etc, in bathroom

disgusting establishment. apparently, joops and ambassador are the same hotel, but this is not entirely understood. the joops / ambassador people put us in their annex building as opposed to their main building. the main building looks pretty nice, containing the governour bar and a nice lobby with lots of antiques. the annex building is like something you would find "in the projects". it smells of people smoking marijuana 24-7. there was even a fire in the building when we stayed there. the rooms have no phones, no internet connectivity (even though the joops web site states "internetconnection in the room"). the showers empty out onto the bathroom floor ... no transition or ledge between the bathroom floor and the shower. the "maid" replaced towels (i think), but did not clean anything. i feel like my family was dooped by this establishment. bait-and-switch is a term that comes to mind. dont stay here!
