The Gooi and Vecht area includes the communities of Blaricum, Bussum, Hilversum, Huizen, Laren, Muiden, Naarden and Weesp.
This is the very centre of Holland, and the Dutch sometimes refer to it as the Garden of Amsterdam. It’s easy to see why: the area features magnificent country manors, lakes, estates and lots of scenic and natural beauty.
Rent a bicycle to explore the expansive moorland, follow a walking trail through one of the mature woodlands or chill out on the waterfront at one of the terraces in Weesp or picturesque Muiden. Admire the modern classic buildings of Hilversum, visit the old village of Huizen, spend some money in the fancy shops of Laren or climb the church tower in Naarden to get a wonderful panoramic view of this fortified town.
The additional benefits of exclusive shops, monumental buildings, a great variety of restaurants and various museums and theatres make this area one of the most versatile and inviting regions of the Netherlands.
