Keukenhof

Keukenhof, situated in Lisse, Netherlands, also known as the Garden of Europe, is the world's largest flower garden. Keukenhof is open from the last week of March to mid-May. The flower garden was the idea in 1949 by the then-mayor of Lisse, a small town south of Amsterdam. The idea was to have a flower exhibit where growers from all over the Netherlands and Europe could show off their hybrids. Keukenhof has been the world's largest flower garden that runs throughout spring for over fifty years. The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April, depending on the weather. It is located between the towns of Hillegom and Lisse, south of Haarlem in South Holland, southwest of Amsterdam, and is accessible by bus and rail.

Leiderdorp (population: 26,182 in 2004) is a town in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland near to the city of Leiden. It is one of the oldest villages in Zuid Holland province and the village core still exists one side of the A4 motorway. From 1960 the city begon to grow.

The municipality covers an area of 12.16 km² (of which 0.57 km² is water). Leiderdorp has now become a suburb of the city of Leiden, although the Zijl river cuts between the two. The HSL-Zuid High-speed rail line is currently being built under Leiderdorp to carry French Thalys trains going between Amsterdam and Brussels.
