The area offers many scenic walking and cycling routes, because Lieveren is set amidst or nearby various nature reserves. For example, the Fochteloërveen, with its hauntingly beautiful moorlands and heather fields, is only a short distance away, as are the Leekstermeer wetlands and the Drents-Friese Woud, a 6,000 ha national park. After having enjoyed the healthy country air, guests can relax in the sauna or beauty centre in the vicinity. Museums and shops are plentiful in historic Assen and the picturesque university city of Groningen.

This beautiful country house, built about a century ago, was originally a farm. The present owners restored the house with great care and excellent taste, preserving its characteristic style. The front house is situated in the middle of the village, while the back of the farmhouse borders the wide open fields. The estate is encircled by a wooded bank consisting of mature beeches, hawthorns and brushwood. The expansive garden has ponds, flower beds and an old orchard.
