Nijmegen 2000 years old. A kind-hearted, southern atmosphere. Nice shopping. Built on the ruins of old Roman and Batavian cities along the river Waal. Lots a signs of ancient times. Cosy terraces in the old city centre and along the riverside Lots of bars, pubs, café's and restaurants, theatres, a casino and several musea (e.g. archeological Valkhof museum with Roman artefacs and modern art, Cycle museum, Afrika museum, War- en resistance museum,). Extensive shopping centre. Situated along many cycling tours and hiking trails through villages and hamlets, hills and valleys, forests, heath and lakes. Polder and riverbeaches.

City Park Hotel is situated in the part of Nijmegen where in ancient times there was a Batavian settlement, which was set to fire in their conflict with the Romans. At the backside of the hotel archeological research is taking place, and a lot of proof of Nijmegen's rich history has been found. This part of town is therefor recently renamed Batavian Quarter; an neighbourhood where lots of restaurants and café's can be found. We even have our own beer "Batavian", an all season lager (6%) beer, with a light taste of cinnamon, bitter and lemon. Of course we have this beer in our hotel as a draught beer. The hotel is situated at the edge of the city centre in front of the Valkhof museum for roman archeology and modern art and the Valkhof city park with it's mediaeval ruines. And just a short distance from beauty and variety of the nature of the surroundings of Nijmegen. Thus the hotel is an ideal starting point for discovering these surroundings by bicycle or on foot.
