Het Koninklijk Paleis werd 350 jaar geleden gebouwd als stadhuis van Amsterdam. In 1808 kwam Lodewijk Napoleon naar Amsterdam. Hij zocht in Amsterdam een nieuwe woning en zag het wonderschone stadhuis. De burgemeesters moesten eruit en hun kantoren werden veranderd in slaapkamers, eet- en balzalen. Na het vertrek van Lodewijk is het gebouw een paleis gebleven. Toch kunt u de oorspronkelijke functie van stadhuis terugvinden in het Paleis. Prachtige schilderijen en verfijnd beeldhouwwerk verwijzen naar de bestuurlijke en administratieve functies die het gebouw vroeger had.

     Location was great if you wanted to be in the middle of Old Amsterdam 1/2 block from Dam Square and didn't mind the magic mushrom and seed shops everywhere. Everything was very accessible. Front desk was helpful when asked, even help us buy museum tickets and provided directions. The included breakfast was reasonably good with breads and a toaster, fruits, cereals, boiled eggs, and juices.
     Room was good sized but there was so little storage room for clothes and limited shelf space with very poor lighting it was difficult to organize our things for a 4 day stay out of our 18 day trip. We had to hang clothes on the hook in the bathroom and then there was no place to hang towels. Used drinking glasses were not replaced daily and bathroom was not cleaned. There was only one comfortable chair in the room.

     The lady on reception who checked us in on Friday afternoon and who was working afternoons all weekend was FANTASTIC nothing was any trouble to her, please thank her on our behalf, the other staff were very helpful also. The location could not have been better close to everything but not too noisy, well done!
     If we had any faults they were minor ones i.e. we found the rooms to be very dark, we also felt the hotel lacked somewhere comfortable to enjoy a drink.

     THE LOCATION AND FRIENDLY STAFF, THE FACILITIES WERE GOOD. EVEN THOUGH WE DID NOT REQUEST AN EARLY CHECK IN WE THE ROOM WAS AVAILABLE VERY EARLY.

     The staff is wonderful.
     It's a ghetto hotel. Let's face it. You know this, but your service level is awesome. Don't try to front a four star when by American standards you're really a 2 star at best.

     Good size room and bath
     The person that checked us in did not greet us or welcome us. He just did what he had to do get our credit card and give the keys. All other staff were good.

     Good location, nice breakfast, we asked for a double bed and got it.
     One morning we asked the hotel staff to search for an address for us, to a store we knew the name of. He pretty much refused, telling us where the area of the nine streets were on a map. We asked him to google the actual address for the store, but he just looked at the screen and told us "It doesn't say". When we got out on the street and googled it ourselves it took us ten seconds to find the address. Very disappointing - isn't that the staff's job? Next time, we will probably choose another hotel where the hotel staff is helpful. Also, the internet access is very expensive. Many cheaper hotels have access for free.

     The staff was most helpful. They made dinner reservations as well as calling for cabs as needed.
     My husband has bad knees and the location was not as easy for him to get to. The cab dropped off rode side and he had to walk with his luggage. Also I felt the building smelled a bit musty as did the shower.

     Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel
     Badkamer comfort niet optimaal: geen beweeglijke sproeier in de douchekabine.
