Information about Lute Suites

LUTE SUITES exists of seven monumental houses. Acclaimed Dutch chef Peter Lute has teamed up with star interior designer Marcel Wanders to create an unusual collection of luxury suites overlooking the river Amstel. Transformed from 18th-century workers cottages into bastions of high contemporary design, each suite's look is completely different and has its own character and features surprising details. What LUTE SUITES guests can depend on are modern kitchenettes, a private wine cabinet, sleek baths and breakfast delivered (on request) to the door. Two multifunctional boardrooms for private dining and stimulating meetings link the suites to the sophisticated French-oriented cuisine of the renowned LUTE restaurant. At LUTE SUITES, guests enjoy complete freedom in a homely environment for short and longer stays. A charming 1920's Canal boat can be rented for private boat trips with private chef. LUTE SUITES offers their guest the best of both worlds! The Dutch country side and dynamic atmosphere of Amsterdam City Centre within 15 minutes reach.

The resulting complex is seven freestanding structures: three-level gabled cottages, each with kitchenette and living room, all facing the Amstel River. The Lute Suites are individually decorated with signature touches from the designer, including his famous “knotted chair”, on display at New York’s MOMA; liberal use of Bisazza mosaic tile and Boffi furnishings lend an air of modern elegance and high functionality. The obsessive attention to enriching the interior is a reflection of Wander’s goal for the complex: to surprise, to delight, and to elicit a strong emotional response. 15 minutes by car from Schiphol Airport and 15 minutes by car from Amsterdam City center.
LUTE restaurant, top-class restaurant with lounge bar and outside terrace - open Monday to Saturday. LUTE Suites own private boat is available for dinner reservations on Saturdays when the restaurant is closed (on request at least 3 days in advance and subject to availability - excluding January & February). The boat serves a 7 course meal and sets sail at 7pm, so you need to arrive promptly. Also the boat can be rented for group dinners or private parties.

It is possible to have a private dinner in your suite and order from the small menu (3 starter, 3 main courses and 2 desserts) only when the restaurant is open. LUTE SUITES is located in the gastronomic heart of The Netherlands with a variety of top-restaruants nearby. Dinner reservations can be made for all guests at restaurants recommended by LUTE Suites for guests wishing to dine on Sundays.
Breakfast will be delivered to the front door of your Suite on request. Johnny Loco bikes for rent and Canal boat rental with private chef on request.

Rooms

• Standard Suite

  -Suite One - Immediately on entry you face a glass wall that separates the bathroom from the hall. On the other side of this glass wall, the Bisazza ‘snowflake’ wall captures the attention. From the bath you can look out over the Amstel. If you look upwards you will see through the half open loft the bedroom which can be reached from the living room via a metal staircase. The living room boasts a 3 metre high window offering spectacular vistas of the Amstel. This self same window bathes the living room in light, and this effect is only heightened by the bright and colourful carpet. -Suite 2 - On entering the front door you can see the outside world through the glass partition wall of the bathroom. Lying in the bath, you can gaze out dreamily at the beautiful vistas……In the living room, eye-catching objects on the wall, a practical desk and a colourful Bisazza side table all contribute to the very pleasant ambience. From the living room a staircase leads up to the loft where the bedroom is ensconced. -Suite 6 - From the large living room you can look up into the bedroom where the original chimney rises all the way up to the ceiling. The bedroom with its unique lamps from the Marcel Wanders Studio and a side table in Bisazza mosaic, looks out over the Amstel. In the bathroom the Bisazza mosaic wall with its black and white flower motif draws all the attention. From the bath you can enjoy this sight as well as basking in the view of the Amstel. -Suite 7 - The phenomenal impression made by this suite is defined by the metal inlaid floor, the soaring height of the ceiling and the view of the bathroom. Through a smoke-coloured glass wall you can see into the bathroom where a combination of teak, colourful motifs, antiques and Boffi details set the atmosphere. At the end of the hall a spiral staircase encased in teakwood leads up to the sleeping floor where the first thing you notice is a wall with a cushioned, softly upholstered surface. The spacious living room is lit by exquisite chandeliers and colour is provided by the brightly hued side tables.

• Suite Three

  Suite 3 - The somewhat limited space in Suite 3 (40 m²) is royally compensated with all the special details. The gold ceiling, the baroque wallpaper, the bathroom with zinc design fixtures commanding a view of the terrain of the former gunpowder factory, and the antique furniture alternating with design objects are all elements that combine to make you feel completely and utterly at home.

• Suite Four

  Suite 4 - On entry, looking upwards, the height of suite 4 and the view of the golden sleeping nook are overwhelming. For this reason we first look around the large living room where you can lie on a daydream bed and gaze outside to your hearts content. If necessary two extra guests can sleep on this bed. A metal staircase leads up to a mezzanine where the bathroom is situated. The double shower is so appealing that you donat even miss the bath in this Suite. From the bathroom you can look down over the living room and if you look upwards you can see through the flower motif gate screen to the sleeping nook. No rollaways allowed. Sleeps 4 (2 adults, 2 children under the age of 12)

• Suite Five

  Suite 5 - The inlaid floor in metal motif and the wallpaper designed by Marcel Wanders Studio steal the show in the living room but this is almost forgotten as you climb the stairs and take in the bathroom. With a view of the Amstel on one side of the bath tub, and on the other side a panorama of the former gunpowder factory, this is a truly amazing bathroom where guests can lie back in the tub and lose themselves in a beautiful reverie. From the bathroom you can look up the metal stairs to the sleeping nook which is partitioned off by a gate screen with a flower motif. The bathroom can be found above the entrance door between the 18th century Dutch gables.

Our latest challenge is Lute Rootz. were young enthusiastic people meet traditional cuisine. And especially for this we have an introduction package to get to know the LUTE experience.

Your credit card details are required to guarantee your booking up to your arrival at the hotel. Payment will be made exclusively to the hotel. If you cannot take up your booking, you need to cancel no later than 1 day(s) before your date of arrival. Please take into account that the date of arrival starts at 0.00 am (CET.) Any booking not taken up and not cancelled 1 day(s) before arrival will be billed at a cost equivalent to the price of the first night. A different cancellation policy may apply for group bookings.
