Fleremaheerd is located in rural Groningen, close to the Frisian border, in a beautiful recreational area called Westerkwartier. This region has a rich wildlife such as birds, hare and deer. Cyclists will enjoy the Abel Tasman Route (Lutjegast is the birthplace of Abel Tasman, a famous Dutch explorer) and hikers have the choice of numerous walking trails and so-called boot trails (laarzenpaden) that often lead through marshland. The Kolonelsdiep and Grootegaster Tocht canals are also nearby. The historic cities of Groningen and Leeuwarden can be reached in half an hour by car.

Information about Erfgoedlogies Fleremaheerd

The Fleremaheerd is a so called head-neck-trunk farm, beautifully situated on a sandy ridge. It's entrance hall was built around 1600 but the area has been inhabited since the year 1000. The charming farmhouse is surrounded by a canal, an orchard, a cottage garden, a pond and a footpath that leads trough the lovely grounds.
