De Dikke Van Dale, a 4-star property, is situated in Sluis historical city. The name of the hotel is derived from the name of the Dutch compiler of “‘De Dikke van Dale’’ dictionary. J.H. Van Dale who was born in Sluis.
Moreover, Sluis is an old historical city, which can be seen by the old city gates (from where the gate-keepers kept an eye on the enemy) and the Belfort Tower (1375). This tower reflected the richness and the power of Sluis. From this tower you will have a magnificent view on the city and the environment.
The city centre is situated within the city walls with a wide variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, which sparkle the city and give it a Burgundian character. A historic walk between the 14th century city walls belongs to one of the possibilities that Sluis has to offer.
