There is no place on this earth where so many scientific knowledge about food exists as is Wageningen. This is why an etablissement as Restaurant O Mundo is so welcome and desired to awake this food-bastion out of its wintersleep. O Mundo, together with its patron cuisinier Addie Roelofsen and his kitchenbrigade, waiters, gerants and sommeliers, end every slightest suggestion of a lack of good taste in Wageningen.

O Mundo is open the entire week for lunch and dinner. Lunch is served between 12.00 and 14.30 and dinner is served from 17.30 untill 21.30.

Addie Roelofsen is a self- made kitchen prince with a nice, modest and likable personal presentation. His career as a chef started in Hotel de Holterberg. He learned the profession in the famous Koetshuis between Rhenen and Elst. From nowhere he transformed a local pub in Driel into a culinary performance of high standards: Restaurant Het Ambacht. After the decision of the University of Wageningen to transform Hotel De Wereld into a hotel/ restaurant again, Addie Roelofsen was immediately approached to manage these comeback aspirations. Highly nominated in the rankings of the national dining-magazines for Het Ambacht and O Mundo, the 35 year old born and raised Wageninger has more than earned his culinary stripes. Combining Hotel De Wereld and Restaurant O Mundo he also proves to be an excellent creator and guardian of solid concepts. A new challenge is already awaiting: ‘DrinksandBites’ located at the Markt in Wageningen. A luxurious snackbar with wordly bites, where the apéritif lasts for an entire lovely evening. Fingerfood for yuppies with pennies. But also a place for cosy and interesting cook-clincs and exclusive private dinners.

At Restaurant O Mundo you are of course in charge of your own stomach. You can passionately eat and drink a lá carte. If you can’t or don’t want to choose from our menu, we can make sure that your evening will be a big culinary surprise. For example a culinary adventure of four courses, preceded by an apéritif, accompanied by the most tasty wines and concluded with coffee and desserts for e65,-. If your company surplusses eight persons then we would love to put together a special menu for you with your input taken into account.

Hotel De Wereld has the disposal of three halls that can be used for many ends: parties, receptions, afternoon- teas, large dinners, intimate dinners, lectures, presentations, meetings or gatherings. The capacity of the halls is related to its use, but at max 200 persons in the large room, 100 in the closed veranda and 50 in the capitulation hall. De halls are located next to eachother and can be used simultaneously as well. By choosing Hotel De Wereld for your reception or party you will have access to one of the most beautiful locations in Wageningen and its surroundings. In close communication it is decided who takes care of what in the preparations. The charges for a reception including Dutch drinks and 4 luxurious bites per person for two hours are approximately e15,-. We are pleased and honored to serve you and your guests with sincere hospitality and excellent drinks and bites. Hotel De Wereld is easily reachable; by foot, public transportation, taxi, horse, limousine or own automobile. We possess our own car park, so parking will not be a problem.

- erg veel lawaai van uitgaand publiek op straat en van langrazend verkeer.een keihard ei bij het ontbijt.

- de bediening tijdens het diner was erg vriendelijk, zeker ook de mogelijkheid die de ober ons gaf tot verandering van tafel was goed.
- er was weinig ruimte tussen de tafels tijdens het diner. hierdoor is een prive gesprek niet mogelijk. de ober pakte dit probeem goed aan door ons een andere tafel, die onverwacht vrijkwam, aan te bieden. hierdoor konden we genieten van het eten en van de verhalen van elkaar. bedankt hiervoor.

- ligging, bereikbaarheid, inrichting, historische achtergronden, heerlijk! eten, koffiemachine op de kamer. grote kamer. fijne zeepjes. aardig personeel. veel en de juiste kranten bij het ontbijt. lekker ontbijt, helaas...
- jammer dat de kamer geen dubbel glas had, het was vooral s ochtends erg lawaaiig. het bed had ook betere tijden gekend (enigszins een kuil). design is wel leuk maar het kosste enige moeite voordat wij begrepen hoe de douchekraan werkte... jalouzie zag er mooi uit maar echt donker was het toch niet. douche kon niet worden versteld en de straal was niet erg hard. een afknapper was het ontbreken van becel of andere margarine, voor mensen die aan hun cholesterol moeten denken is roomboter geen optie: droog brood eten dan maar. nog een tip voor het verrassingsmenu: het was wel erg veel vis woensdag 19 september, 3 van de vier gerechten.

- parkeer gelegenheid:is bestemd voor bezoekers van het hotel/restaurant,maar door het niet functioneren van de slagboom bezet door anderen die gratis konden parkeren,hierdoor parkeerterrein overvol. verder in de badkamer steun boven het bad los,evenals het zeepbakje.

- de puntjes op de i misten: overnachting was verrassing voor partner,twee keer vermeld ter voorbereiding(laatste melding 4 uur van te voren), bij verblijf was dit niet bij personeel bekend. passende wijn bij gerecht kwam veel te laat, eitjes bij ontbijt waren koud. er zou wat meer op de details gelet moeten worden.
