The history of the castle and its owners dates back to the Middle Ages. In the course of the centuries the appearance of the castle changed considerably as a result of fires, wars, additions and embellishments. Gradually, the castle changed from a medieval stronghold to a fine manor house. The castle boasts an important, predominantly late-medieval art collection.
